Radars

Radars

Marine radars, whether they be open array or radome, are navigational aids used for situational awareness at sea. Marine radars allow boaters to detect objects around their boat and pinpoint their position and distance. Marine radars achieve this by sending out a sound wave emitted from the radar antenna. This wave will bounce back when it hits another object and return to the radar receiver. The radar will calculate the time it took this sound wave to return and it will calculate the distance and position of the object relative to the radar antenna and receiver. Radar technology is an invaluable tool for any serious boater because it will allow navigational and situational awareness regardless of light conditions and this will allow for greater safety at sea by preventing collisions. Marine radars should always be seen as a great investments in the safety of the vessel and all those that board it. Marine radars can be another safety instrument that saves lives or at least prevents accidents from happening in the first place. Marine radars come in a variety of configurations. You'll need to consider the type of radar antenna (open array antenna or dome antenna also known as radome), the range or distance in nautical miles that the radar will operate under, output power of the radar antenna, antenna size and the size and color of the radar screen display.
